Dear FriendFor a change and as a break I thought of going a bit social. Our country had been an agriculture base country since long. Today the shortage of food grains is a world wide challenge. We should have been proud and comfortable, but on the contrary the picture is quite different. Today bulk of food grains is being imported and a lot of in- grown is going waste as it rots in destitution. This has happened because of lack of focus and the commitment towards it by the leaders. The focus of the leaders should have been on agriculture so that each and every citizen of the country gets it share of Independence. World wide countries are finding the shortage of food grains etc. as every where the population is increasing and cultivable land is decreasing. That is because most people are switching over to job or some sort of business, from farming, some are even committing suicide, as the returns in agriculture are the minimal. If this trend continues then very shortly the farmer community will perish and people will have to live on chemical alternatives. The Government should, on priority, keep big money in every budget for the benefit and encouragement of, farmers and farming. Special packages should be offered, subsidies and loans be given. Central monitoring and disbursing centers be developed. Proper; supervision, for right utilization of help given and recovery structure, should in place. Central buying agencies should be developed and properly used (NAFED, IFFCO etc. what are they busy doing; they can be competitors to private players) with rates fixed (Practically viable) for all the commodities, so that the farmers get their full and best share. This will help in elimination of stocking and rotting along with proper availability to the public also. The research done and being done in the field should be properly utilized and conveyed to acquire maximum yield. These kinds of practically implemented schemes will surely boost the interest of farmers in farming and in few years we might be self sufficient.Working for and wishing the best for the countrySundeep Bhatnagar
